Our journey began when Mr. William Gogan Kentzel moved to Covington in 1878, where he founded the St. Tammany Farmer Press. As the editor and proprietor of the paper, Mr. Kentzel played a significant role in shaping the local community through his journalistic endeavors. In 1979, local author Carol Saunders Jahncke wrote a book about the early days of the paper and its editor, preserving the history of our esteemed institution.
