Empowering Creativity Through Printing
At Ocelot Print Shop, we are dedicated to providing high-quality screen printing services to support the DIY and home-based screen printers in our community. Our story began in early 2012, when our founders were inspired by community print shops they visited while traveling. As artists who worked from home, they wanted to be part of a working space that provided a greater amount of feedback, inspiration, and flow of ideas. They were connected through a mutual friend to a lifelong screen printer who had visions of a space that was commercial but also inspiring to work in.
After a year of planning and preparing, we opened our doors in June 2013 with a grant from the Awesome News Task Force. With a budget of just $1000, we built a dark room, a light table, a wash-out booth, and procured basic supplies. We opened in time to partner with the Allied Media Projects (AMP) and the Detroit Future Media (DFM) classes, teaching students how to screen print and applying their graphic design skills to tangible outputs.
Over the years, we have expanded our services to include custom screen printing for artists, designers, and entrepreneurs. We have supported over 200 members in creating beautiful work, making countless t-shirts, posters, business cards, invitations, and many other printed items. We have also taught hundreds of students how to screen print through our monthly introduction to screen printing classes.

We strive to provide a welcoming and collaborative environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and community building. We believe that screen printing is not just a skill, but a tool for self-expression and self-empowerment.

- Custom Screen Printing: We offer a wide variety of custom screen printing services for artists, designers, and entrepreneurs. From t-shirts to tote bags, we can print on a variety of materials and formats.
- Screen Services: We provide screen services to support the local screen printing community. Send us a design and we can create a screen for you, so you don't have to set up a darkroom and wash-out booth at your home or workshop.
- Press Rental: Rent one of our high-quality press machines and take your screen printing skills to the next level.
- Art Services: We also offer art services, including designing and printing custom art, decals, and fleet markings.
Our Community
We are located in the heart of the Cass Corridor, surrounded by a vibrant community of artists, entrepreneurs, and activists. Our building has a strong history of fostering community-based grassroots organizations and community development. We are neighbors with Back Alley Bikes, a karate studio, and an Italian deli - come visit us and experience the energy and creativity of our neighborhood!
